Guide: Sagas

Some key points:

• Renown rewards for Sagas is always 15k, regardless of length or difficulty of saga
  
• XP and Tome rewards vary per chain, and don't always correlate to level or difficulty or saga length.
  
• Epic Sagas give +3 skill tomes. Heroic Sagas give +1 and +2 tomes.
  
• The amount of tomes offered in the reward list depend solely on difficulty of completion (Normal: 1 tome, Hard: 2 tomes, Elite: 3 tomes, True Elite: 4 tomes). Meaning that you're safe the first two runthroughs to just do normal, and then hard, and have no chance of getting overlapping tomes on your toon.
  
• All saga rewards are BtC- yes, even XP tokens. XP tokens are also not bankable (which may interfere with them being put into TR cache on TR).
  

I've organized the best sagas to run [for tomes, renown, XP], and a short explanation why-so:


RENOWN:
Heroic Gianthold Saga
(Bestowed by Infernys in Gianthold, 10 quests):

WHY: Lowest level. Shortest length, both in quest lengths and saga length.
Lowest XP reward and only +1 skill tomes mean those rewards compare least favorably to the static renown amount.
You can grab some high level toons and get some super fast completions in.

ABOUT: Perfect for renown farming, as that is, as always, 15k.
Best thing to do, grab that reward after dropping a renown pot, or during a renown boost

EXPERIENCE:
The End of Eberron AND Menace of the Underdark Sagas.
End of Eberron: Bestowed by Gatekeeper Grazla in the Harbor (South of The Spinner’s Prison) or Gizla in Eveningstar (11 quests)
Menace of the Underdark: Bestowed by Lady Azana Winter in Eveningstar (13 quests))

WHY: These two sagas both have some of the best [xp reward for # of quests needed to run], both chains give great XP per each quest [in comparison to more recent packs], AND the two sagas overlap most of their quests, meaning you can get 2-for-1 completions.
Needless to say, this is a no-brainer.

ABOUT:
A whopping 7 quests overlap, meaning that you only need to run a total of 17 quests.  On True Elite, that's a 102K and 154K xp, for a total of 156K.
Even better? The chains also overlap with the 'Chosen of Mystra (name will be changed with next update)' saga.
Of the 11 quests in that saga, 5 are overlapped. Meaning, if you want/are able to run High Road, you're solid for getting even more 'bang for your buck'.

TOMES
The End of Eberron AND Menace of the Underdark Sagas.

Menace of the Underdark: Bestowed by Lady Azana Winter in Eveningstar (13 quests))

WHY: What you want for tomes is quality- +3, which only epics drop- and speed, since longer chains don't offer more options per list or better quality tomes.
Initially, you'd consider the Epic Gianthold saga for this, as it has the smallest required number of quests (at 10), as well as the shortest quests of the lot (excluding Madstone and Crucible). However, as with Experience above, the ability to make progress on 2-3 Sagas at once makes this, once again, preferential.

In the end, however, it'll likely boil down to which set of chains (Eberron & Underdark / Eberron & Underdark & Chosen of Mystra / or EGH) you find easier to run.

ABOUT:
Secondary options :Epic Gianthold Saga (10 quests), Chosen of Mystra Saga (11 quests, 5 overlapping with above sagas)
At 16 and 25 # of quests, and at the highest level range of quests of the sagas, and with little overlapping, Honor of the Huntsilvers and Perils of Cormyr are straight out.[/b][/b]
